Valentina Medda
Valentina holds an MA in philosophy and a Photography Certification from ICP -International Center of Photography.
Her work has been shown internationally in different venues in Europe and abroad -Copenhagen Photo Festival; Triennale BOVISA -Milano; MANIFESTA07 –Bolzano; movie kill –Berlin; TinaB_Prague’s Antibiennal; PERFORMA09 –NY; DUMBO Art Festival –NY.
She has been artist in residence in Les Bain:Connective-Brussel, 2006; in Rencontres internationals aux Recollets –Paris, 2011; Cité des Arts –Paris, 2012 and FARE , Milan, 2014; and she received different awards and grants: the kodak Award, the MOVIN-UP Award, the Master&Back Fellowship, and the NYFA Mentorship for Immigrant artists. In 2011 she was invited to the 54th Venice Biennale –Regional selection.
Together with Elisa Del Prete -Nosadella2- she co-curates the event In Cantiere, where artists are invited to discuss their work in progress within the frame of a private house about to be renovated and she’s currently working on the public art project “Il tuo volto domani”, curated by Francesca Apolito.
From November 1st Valentina will be a resident of Flux Factory Artist Residency Program, Queens, NY.
Valentina Medda, artista di origini sarde, approdata prima a Bologna, poi a NY invitata a partecipare alla 54ma Biennale di Venezia, selezioni regionali nell’estate del 2011 è ora ospite con una residenza artistica presso la Cité Internationale des Arts di Parigi. Insieme alla scenografa Francesca De Gobbi interverrà sugli spazi del Lazzaretto Autogestito interpretando il tema del Viaggio Cosmico di Galaktica in occasione del II Festival Made in Woman.
